A 1914 UFO?
Jose Caravaca has come across a 1914 photo that puzzles him.
He asked if I might have some information about it. I don't.
But maybe one or two of our visitors here might know a little bit about the photo.
Here it is, with the "object" pulled out for closer inspection:
It's not a spectacular UFO image, but is intriguing because of the date it was taken, when photography was relatively new and hoax free pretty much.

Interesting! I've often wondered if, and to what extent, a random study of old, early photos might show up a few things suggestive of UFOs.

Is it a river back there by the trees? The erosion pattern of the two streams might cause some inland erosion.

Could be a rowboat standing on-end. (Although why it would be there is a mystery.) Maybe a stone slab?
Looks like two paths intersect at that point, could be some kind of information post or memorial...
I'm beginning to the think the black part on the left is not part of whatever the white object is, I think it's part of the background that happens to "end" near where the white thing ends. What's the white thing? Don't know.

Some kind of religious monument maybe - what we here in rural America refer to as "Mary in a bathtub". (Bathtub buried halfway in the ground, statue of Mary, flowers.)

Added on by whom, though?
It could be a picture someone took of his home, and he's letting viewers know it still has the outhouse. In which case, it might be added on by him, or in his 'time'.
While it could have also been added by some psychologist of the early 1900s.

Looking carefully at the image, it appears to be planted in the ground and as my friend Parakletos has observed it possess some resemblance to a shrine or a sheet ballooned by the wind. Not much to chew on outside the purview of the imaginable realm where it remains a ghost of our own perceptional desires.
